New Beginnings & Appropriate Endings

I am trying for the second time to start a blog with townhall.com. You may or may not have run across my original effort Candles in the Dark at candlesinthedark.townhall.com. After posting a couple of times i found i could neither post, nor delete the blog. I e-mailed townhall and they did not respond. So here goes another try.

So many issues and so little time to blog about them. John Kerry's honest and from the heart statement about our troops was not revelatory, but offensive nonetheless, in so many ways. I am sure that most people on townhall have seen the picture that H.H. posted on this site. I am enlarging, printing, laminating, and taping to my car windows for all to see. The men and women of our military put their lives on the line for all of us, every ding-dong day!! They all enter the military for different reasons, statistically not as a last resort. I have and will continue to propose that congress takes a 25% pay cut, hardly hurtful, and then that money be dispersed among our combat and combat-ready military payroll. Of course, the 25% is not much, but every little bit helps. The marines in our area conduct car wash fundraisers at local fast food parking lots every year. The money they raise goes to help our men and women who are in Iraq, Afghanistan,etc.. pay for the annual Marine Birthday Ball. This event is not low cost, but something they and their spouse look forward to every year. Without the fundraisers, our actively fighting military, who are not at home and therefore are not bringing in pay from the second job that most of them have, would not be able to attend the Ball. I have never let them wash my car, but i do give them money. I don't believe they should have to wash my car, as i owe them so much already. I am always responded to with a " thank you ma'am, this will mean a lot to our buddies overseas". I am so proud of these soldiers who take their only day off and use it to actively help their comrades in arms.
Finally, the end of Sadaam is near, and all decided by his former citizenry. Hooray, justice sometimes is accomplished. I fear now only for his soul, which in his current state of denial, looks to being hellbound. More on the way.
